Anatolian Shepherd Dog

An Anatolian Shepherd Dog is a rugged, imposing flock guardian of ancient lineage. Protective and territorial, but also intelligent, patient, and profoundly loyal, these muscular avengers are prized as working guard dogs without equal.

  • Temperament: Courageous, powerful, protective, calm and devoted.

  • Weight: Female: 88–120 lbs, Male: 110–140 lbs

  • Origin: Turkey

  • Life expectancy: 10 to 13 years

PROS:

  • Alert and Protective: The Anatolian Shepherd was bred to protect its “flock” from danger.

  • Loyal Toward Family: This breed displays a fierce loyalty toward its family.

  • Intelligent: The Anatolian Shepherd scores highly on any intelligence ranking.

CONS:

  • Suspicious of Strangers: The Anatolian Shepherd treats any unfamiliar person or animal with suspicion.

  • Independent-minded: While independence serves it well out in the field, this might not necessarily be an endearing quality to some owners as a pet.

  • Reserved: While generally playful, the Anatolian Shepherd is not quite as outgoing and affectionate as other breeds

LGD puppies

We breed and raise pure AKC registered Anatolian ShephErds. They make amazing guardian and working dogs.

The parents are active working dogs on our farm and puppies are exposed and raised with all our livestock and animals including cattle, goats, chickens, rabbits and cats.

Our puppies are socialized regularly, are properly vaccinated and on a de-worming schedule, are AKC registered and microchipped.

In order to raise a successful guardian, training is required. Though their breeds are natural guardians, they still require training to assure they are bonded with livestock and know who is to be protected vs. who is an intruder. Close supervision is required throughout the puppy stage around small livestock, especially birds.

Annabelle saved my kids from an 11-foot alligator! We're so glad she was there to interfere.

As hard as it is to see an animal get hurt, their job is to protect, and this girl did amazing!

My Marshmallow is being a fantastic LGD! He is so smart & has been easy to train with basic commands. He instinctively protects his herd & is such a great addition to our tiny farm! I can (finally) sleep well knowing he’s on patrol every night.

Very good people that truly care for their animals. I got an AKC Anatolian Shepard from them and he is a great dog. He was healthy when I got him and they are always willing to help even after the sale is final. Great people.
